At HouseMinders we understand that initially you may feel a little uncomfortable handing over your home and pets to a complete stranger. Many of our clients will often feel this way on their first booking of our pet sitting services and that is why we spend time talking to you personally prior to booking so that we really understand your needs and the requirements of your pets.
We pride ourselves in selecting house sitters suitable and experienced to your requirements (the amount of repeat business we receive from long term clients is testimony to this); if we feel we don’t have suitable people available for your dates, we will tell you and decline the booking. This is why it is imperative that we are given sufficient notice, particularly for first bookings, so we may offer the best possible pet and house sitting service without having to compromise due to short timescales. However, whatever the notice, we will do our utmost to be of service.
And of course, you have the final say. Our pet sitters will visit you, ideally 6-8 weeks prior to commencement date, to familiarise themselves with the routine of your home and pets and to allow you to get to know them. Once this meeting has taken place our clients normally inform us that they feel very comfortable with our choice and they can now look forward to their holiday with total peace of mind. However, in the unlikely event you are not totally satisfied with our choice of minders we will of course find you someone else.
The booking process:
• We discuss your requirements as detailed above and forward our reservation form to you for completion. This is a comprehensive form and the details you supply to us are important so please complete it with as much detail as possible. Please be totally frank about your pets so we are able to match our pet sitters accurately to their care requirements, i.e. are they strong on lead, their dislikes, does anything frighten or stress them, what is their normal routine, sleeping arrangements, medical conditions etc.
• Once we receive your reservation form and registration fee, we then carefully select suitable sitters and, once selected, our sitters with contact you direct to arrange a mutually convenient pre-visit. We suggest this should be 6-8 weeks prior to commencement date. Once the pre-visit has been completed we shall of course contact you again to ensure you are happy with all arrangements made on your behalf and to discuss any concerns or queries you may have at this stage.
• You will be invoiced for the balance of our fee for payment no later than two weeks prior to commencement date.
• Our house and pet sitters arrive on your day of departure at a mutually agreed time, allowing sufficient time to “hand over” and get you smoothly on your way.
• During their stay our house sitters will keep your home clean and aired, your garden maintained and your pets loved and happy in their normal routine. They will deal with callers, take and forward on messages and be quick-witted and sensible in the case of an emergency. On your return, they will be happy to purchase provisions such as bread and milk on your behalf.
• For the duration of the assignment, our house sitters will not leave your home unattended for more than three consecutive hours during daylight hours and no more than one hour between dusk and dawn.
• On your return, you will be asked to sign an Employee Report Form by our house sitters prior to their departure. Please note our sitters are not permitted to leave your home until you return in case of delays.
